UNCITRAL Working Group II Completes Expedited Arbitration Rules

UNCITRAL’s Working Group II has been developing a set of expedited arbitration rules as an appendix to the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules since February 2019. Alan M. Anderson attended and participated in the Working Group II sessions since it began work on this project. Anderson has attended as a representative of the Forum for International Conciliation and Arbitration (FICA). On March 27, Working Group II completed its efforts with a set of Expedited Arbitration Rules that will be presented to the UNCITRAL Commission for approval this summer. During the two years of deliberations, Anderson participated in the preparation of several position papers that were submitted on behalf of FICA to Working Group II. Normally, the delegates and representatives pose for a final group photograph, but due to the final session being held virtually due to the pandemic, the UNCITRAL Secretariat instead arranged for a virtual digital image of the participants.
